The Kingdom of God is not a cultural Gospel because cultural forms and customs divide us and are temporary but we proclaim a Gospel that has Substance, essence, a spiritual and divine nature based on the Eternal One.
Every person was created with a spirit, soul and body, and it is our spiritual being which has an eternal deposit to rule over the soul and body, which is why temporary things will never satisfy us.
The Substance and Purpose of this Gospel are not cultural forms but the Person of Christ Jesus and His Life, which every child of God has received in every nation on Earth. “So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.” Colossians 2:16-17 NKJV
When we communicate a Gospel of substance, it is firstly a spiritual nature with a Heavenly vision and Eternal Purpose, and so there will be no cultural barriers as we are called to be collaborators of this Purpose.
Also this Gospel of Substance has one image to reveal, which is Christ’s, and each of us was created in His image and likeness. When we have this revelation, we see people from every tribe, language and nation differently because we treat them according to His image.
Today we need to examine our hearts and ask ourselves whether we are first seeing our brothers and sisters according to their colour, accent, education and nationality or as the representation of Christ’s image? When we see them with His image our perspective changes and we become sons of God, imparting His Love, Mercy and Justice.
What are we saying about others? Justice begins in our hearts and flows out of our mouths. When we negatively criticize others for example, by judging, defaming, mocking or gossiping about them, then God calls these words and attitudes injustice. However, the essence of Justice and Love of Jesus Christ is very clear, because he did not die on the Cross for a select group or a particular culture but to save us all and forgive the sins of the whole of humanity.
We are a Global Ekklesia called on this earth to reveal the image of Christ and to manifest His Glory (His character) to every language, tribe and nation to extend His Kingdom, which is His Government of Justice, Joy and Peace in the Holy Spirit.
Let us break cultural barriers and extend His Kingdom of Justice by proclaiming a Gospel of Substance! Christ in us the hope of glory to the nations!
